I saw Mr. Campbell on C-SPAN and he made the (unjustified, in my opinion) assertion that since “nones” tended to be liberal that they are moving away from religion due to political reasons. I offer this article in response to this assertion: http://www.asanet.org/press/conservatives_trust_has_fallen.cfm In other words, liberals tend to value science more, and so it could be this, acceptance of science that is driving the “nones” away from religion. Campbell’s thinking in this case makes me wonder about the accuracy of other claims in the book.

Yes. There is considerable statistical analysis behind the “Crashing the Tea Party” op-ed. This is contained in the Epilogue to the paperback copy of “American Grace: How Religion Divides and Unites Us” (Simon & Schuster) that will come out early next year.

How ridiculous is the study that you did on the Tea Party. Anybody can take a sampling with vague questions on any group in America and construe it in a way that is negative. David Campbells’ interview with Chris Matthews about the book was absolutely was a farce.
Notre Dame being the esteemed religious institution it is should be ashamed for having a race baiter and a religion basher on their staff as this guy.
I am NOT a tea party’re but a registered Independent. Crap like this has nothing to do with politics and only divides our great country more for the sake of arousing the “base” and to sell books to liberals.
Mr. Campbell fortunately for the country, your construing won’t have an effect and you are the one that is way out of the mainstream.
